Performance Testing Foundations

The question is not when the system works, but when it doesn’t – and why. Performance testing is not just about running tests, but also about having a clear picture of how it should work. Only in this way can we understand what is going on behind the scenes and avoid mistakes, rushing and stress.

Introduction

Performance issues not only burden the system, but also the team. This three-day, hands-on performance testing training is for testers and engineers who want to gain a deeper understanding of how to do performance testing consciously. The goal: clear expectations, understandable results, and fewer surprises in a production environment.

Why is it worth joining?

You have probably encountered a system that slows down or crashes in production and maybe you are expected to provide answers or suggest solutions. Performance testing is not just about running a few scripts, but also about predicting where and why things might go wrong. However, technical knowledge is not enough for this: you need to understand the business expectations, the behavior of the system, and how to communicate the results.

Familiar situations:

  • The system can handle the load “in theory” but not in production?
  • Response times were fine in the test environment, but slowdowns and timeouts occur in the production environment?
  • Part of the team does not understand why performance testing is important?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, this performance testing training is for you!

It helps you not only test, but also truly understand and be able to represent the performance of the system even in the most critical moments.

Who is this training for?

This training is designed for IT professionals who already have basic testing knowledge and want to more consciously apply performance testing in their development, testing or operations processes.

It is primarily intended for testers and test automation, but it can also be useful for developers, operators and DevOps professionals who want to better understand the relationships related to system performance and learn the basics of performance testing.

You should join if, for example:

  • you would like to better understand the methodology and tools of performance testing,
  • it is important for you that the test results represent real business value,
  • you often encounter that the system behaves differently in production than in a test environment,
  • you would like to collaborate more effectively with developers and operators to prevent performance problems.

Course overview

Topics

This performance testing training is for those who want to better understand how digital systems behave under different load situations and how to apply this knowledge in everyday work. The goal is not just to run tests, but to draw real conclusions about the system’s operation and thereby make more valuable professional decisions.

  • The role of performance in digital systems:
    • The impact of performance on user experience and business results
    • Basic concepts: response time, throughput, scalability
    • What does “good performance” mean in different contexts?
  • Frontend and backend performance:
    • Differences and connections between the two sides
    • Using browser tools for frontend analysis
      Testing backend APIs with JMeter
    • Overview of performance monitoring basics
  • Test types and test design:
    • Purpose and application of load, stress and spike tests
    • Designing and executing test cases
    • Observing system behavior at different load levels
  • Interpreting system behavior:
    • How to read the system operation from behind the numbers?
    • Interpreting metrics, identifying bottlenecks
    • Avoiding typical mistakes and misinterpretations
  • Presenting results and providing feedback:
    • Preparing reports for different target groups
    • Presenting key indicators to technical and non-technical audiences
    • Feedback on your own tests, drawing lessons

The goal of this performance testing training is to give you practical tools that will not only help you better utilize your technical knowledge, but also make a real difference in your company and career.
